The advances that are being made in the evaluation of the foetus are modifying the diagnostic and therapeutic possibilities, allowing a progressive refinement of the diagnosis of congenital anomalies. This makes continuous updating essential for a correct and complete estimation of the prognosis and clinical management of the problems detected in accordance with the available evidence and the most recently accepted lines of action by international foetal medicine and therapy groups. The updating of care protocols or the decision to follow an algorithm of action for certain pathological situations must be the result of the analysis of the latest available data. The course is structured to achieve this fundamental objective. Fetal pathologies are presented according to a common presentation scheme, with abundant iconography and illustrative videos, followed by discussion between experts and attendees in order to delve deeper into the most advanced and/or controversial aspects, so that the key points of diagnosis and management can finally be established according to the current evidence, in a concise and clinical practice-oriented manner.

The course is aimed at Obstetrics and Gynaecology specialists and residents working in both hospital and primary care settings.
The general objectives are to identify the different types of most frequent foetal pathologies. To know how to diagnose them, the complementary studies to be carried out, the perinatal and postnatal prognosis, the possibility of prenatal therapy and the necessary postnatal treatments. The specific objectives are:
– Prenatal ultrasound diagnosis of foetal malformations and pathologies, key points for differential diagnosis.
-Study protocols for each pathology, including complementary tests.
-Current criteria for establishing postnatal prognosis. Protocols for ultrasound and clinical follow-up.
-Present and future indications and current results of foetal therapy.
-Delivery planning and obstetric conduct.
The student must learn to interpret the main ultrasound guidance signs of the different foetal malformations. They must know how to guide postnatal treatment and treatment by foetal surgery if necessary. In order to acquire this knowledge, you will have theoretical classes grouped by subject, presentation of real clinical cases diagnosed and treated in our unit. Presentation of videos of the different foetal surgeries currently available. At the end there will be an evaluation by means of an examination consisting of different real clinical cases presented as videos with multiple-choice questions. A 70% of correct answers is required to pass.
The presentation of the topics will be structured on the basis of problem solving through the essential theoretical content. The development of each topic will follow a clinical outline and will use images and videos. At the end of the presentations, the student can obtain a certificate of completion of the theoretical training and pass the knowledge acquisition test. Once the knowledge has been acquired and in order to obtain the certificate, a multiple-choice test must be taken. For the validation test you have 3 attempts and must answer 70% of the answers correctly. Each time you enter the test, even if you do not answer any questions, it counts as an attempt.
