It requires a high degree of knowledge of foetal cardiac anatomy and circulation and a mastery of techniques for the visualisation of cardiac structure and function throughout the gestation. A thorough knowledge of the possible intrauterine evolution, associated pathologies and of course the prognosis of the different cardiac malformations is also necessary.
