Location

The theoretical part of the course will take place on the online platform of Fetal i+D Education Barcelona® at the location and times chosen by the student.
The practical part of the course will take place in the auditorium and laboratories of NEXUS in Brasília.

Online Theoretical Modules with Evaluation

The teaching program of the University Specialist Course in Maternal Pathology and Obstetrics includes 6 theoretical modules that cover almost all maternal and obstetric pathologies and offer advanced training through theoretical classes and the interactive platform. Each module allows for the online viewing of videos with the theoretical content of the modules. These modules will have a defined duration and will be executed sequentially. The theoretical assessment will be conducted online, as soon as the Masterclass session has been completed and any doubts that students may have had are resolved. The exam will be a multiple-choice test with questions that may include images and videos, with specific dates for completion.

Masterclass

Masterclasses will be scheduled with the tutor of each module in Zoom format, where students can ask questions live online to the specialists. They will be coordinated by a moderator who will facilitate their development. The session will be held before the end of the online examination period to resolve any doubts that students may have.

Practicum

Todos los módulos incluyen una parte práctica que consiste en la obtención y envío de casos clínicos e imágenes ecográficas* que deberán seguir los criterios marcados en las clases teóricas. Éstas serán evaluadas y puntuadas por el Comité Académico del curso de manera que los alumnos recibirán un feedback personalizado que les permitirá detectar los posibles errores con el fin de mejorar técnicamente y mejorar su práctica asistencial. (* envío de casos clínicos documentados, obtenidos por el propio alumno en su lugar de trabajo, con sus imágenes asociadas).

Online Clinical Case Resolution

A forum will be created using the Moodle platform for each module. This will be supervised by the course’s scientific coordinator, who will ensure its proper functioning. It will be made available to students at the beginning of the module and will represent a space to share concerns and doubts regarding the study program that will be developed. Similarly, the module directors will present clinical cases to the students to generate discussion. Some of these sessions will consist of practical workshops, such as pelvic floor repair, breech birth, postpartum hemorrhage, etc.

Final Research Project

Students must complete a final research project that will be evaluated by the Academic Committee. The topic of the project will be proposed by each student. There are 2 modalities to choose from regarding the topic of the final project:

•  Revisión sistemática de la literatura de un tema actual tratado durante el cursoSystematic literature review on a current topic covered during the course.
• Original research in their own environment.

Methodology

There will be two separate assessments that must be passed to obtain the certificate.
The theoretical assessment is conducted online, once the Masterclass session is completed and any doubts that students may have are resolved.
The assessment of classroom practice will be based on the knowledge acquired in each of the practical sessions.
To obtain the certificate, it is essential to pass all modules, as well as the Final Project.
Each module will consist of the following blocks:

– Theoretical Assessment
– Face-to-face Practices
– Practical Assessment

• Course development in 50 lectures and in-person classes, presented by specialists in gynecology and obstetrics and other specialties and professions with a special emphasis on evidence-based medicine, multidisciplinary and multiprofessional work to achieve the common goal of woman and family-centered care
•  The course is divided into 6 modules including the following fields of maternal and obstetric medicine:
  1.  Tocurgery
  2.  Maternal Medicine
  3.  Placental Insufficiency
  4.  Premature Delivery
  5.  Maternal Critical Care
  6.  Perinatal Mental Health
•  Graphical, schematic, and eminently practical contents that gather the main scientific knowledge on those disciplines essential for professional practice.
•  Accredited and active professors from the University of Barcelona and the Autonomous University of Barcelona, among others, with extensive teaching and professional experience, being the best specialists in each area.
•  Continuous flow classes at the end of each module where you can interact with the professor and resolve your doubts in real-time.
•  Tutored online exams with an explanation of the questionnaire at the end of each module related to the concepts covered.
•  Availability of content from any fixed or portable device with an internet connection.
